pilton video

Formed in 1982 to assist local community groups with programme making, Pilton
Video is now a city wide Media Project funded since 1995 through the Arts and Learning Unit of the City of Edinburgh Council.

It provides informal training in basic level camera and sound skills, project based group work with community groups and an introduction to editing skills. Depending on the level of practical hands on work the group or individual wants to undertake, the post-production work can be on tape to tape systems (linear editing) or computer based non-linear systems.

Pilton Video positively encourages editorial control for all community based initiatives, together with providing equipment and expertise in programme production to ‘new voices’ from the diverse communities in the City of Edinburgh.
In partnership with a broad range of individuals, community groups, cultural and public sector organisations, as well as broadcasters, it aims to help create high quality productions in both drama and documentary.
