Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC) is Scotland’s longest running open access facility for young filmmakers. The centre offers facilities for hire and provides training. Also on offer are two short film production initiatives Digicult and Cineworks.

Facilities Hire GMAC rent out film and video equipment to its members at income related prices and there are also a range of lights, editing facilities, digital video cameras, studio space and sound recording equipment.

Community Projects GMAC works with schools, community groups and art organisations making documentaries and promotional videos.

Training GMAC provides entry-level training at affordable rates and also offers Trainee and New Deal Placements. Film camera techniques and script writing are just two examples of what are on offer.

Information GMAC is available for members through their newsletter, notice board, website, flyers and events. The information included informs members of job opportunities, film festivals, competitions, items for sale, cast databases and training courses.

Cineworks Scotland’s entry level initiative short film production commissions five original and innovative films each year from emerging Scottish talent. This is run in association with Edinburgh Mediabase and is funded by Scottish Screen, The UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund and BBC Scotland.

Digicult is a radical talent development initiative with backing from The UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund. The scheme commissions digital shorts from filmmakers working under the creative umbrella of DIGICULT.
